If you’re like me, some days it feels like making a meal from scratch is impossible. Some days I’m so tired after a full day of working and wrangling my two boys that I’m lucky if I eat anything more than chips and dips as I sink into the couch! That’s why I’m excited to share with you this game-changing recipe for 5 Minute Sesame Rice & Teriyaki Shrimp.

Homemade takeout is huge with our family. We absolutely love to order delivery, but have been trying very hard to save more money. Last year we set a goal to create as many delicious takeout recipes as we could at home.

Sesame rice has become one of our favorite dishes from that challenge (and if you haven’t checked out that original recipe, be sure to also read Savory Sesame Rice).

It’s perfect for repurposing and using leftovers, but I hate that it takes so long for rice to cook. After a long day the last thing I want to do is hang out in my kitchen waiting for water to boil.

What if I told you there was a quick and easy microwavable rice option that not spend up meal time, but actually helped you create a real dinner in about 5 minutes?

I’m thrilled to partner with VeeTee Rice on creating a quick and delicious weeknight meal! For this recipe, I tried their Thai Jasmine rice. Thai Jasmine rice has a subtly fragrant aroma and is slightly sticky, which means it was perfect for this dish.

  1. This sounds so easy. I always mess up real rice so I usually avoid recipes like this, but I like that you just pop it in the microwave!

    1. Hi Cindy! You absolutely can. The rice is amazing without the shrimp, but you can also easily add in leftover protein of any kind if you’re tossing it in the teriyaki sauce, like chicken!

    1. It’s so quick and easy! You can actually pick up the rice at most grocery stores, and they are also available on Amazon now too.
