The Christmas season is also a big baking season in our home. One of our favorite Christmas traditions is making Christmas cookies and other treats as gifts for family, friends and neighbors.

My husband always begs for Peanut Butter Blossom Cookies, and my mom loves my Chocolate Crinkle Cookies. But for me and my boys, it’s ALL about the chocolate and peppermint. These fudgy brownie bites are mixed with glittering pieces of peppermint candy and are such a fun (and easy!) one to make!

The Perfect Easy Christmas Dessert

As a mom of little ones, I feel like we’re always on the go. So I love anything that’s easy to eat with just one hand. These are the perfect size for that! Making these as brownie bites also means I don’t even have to think about slicing the brownie tray. Just bake and pop out.

It’s hard to resist saying no to eating multiple of these delicious treats. They have just the right balance of sweet chocolate flavor and cool mint and make the perfect holiday brownie.

I am a big fan of EASY desserts because let’s be honest: most of the time we just don’t have the extra time to make every single thing from scratch. That’s one of the reasons that I love this recipe, because it makes it really easy with boxed brownie mix.

However, you can absolutely substitute brownies made from scratch for this. It’s totally up to you!

I use both peppermint extract and crushed peppermint candies (or peppermint candy canes) for this recipe. If you prefer, you can use Peppermint Hershey’s Kisses or Hugs! These are also an easy dessert to add sprinkles to as well.

Ingredients Needed for These Christmas Brownies

ingredients needed for mint brownie bites

For this easy Christmas chocolate dessert, you only need a few items:

1 packet brownie mix (13×9 pan size)
Canola or vegetable oil (according to package directions)
Eggs (according to package directions)
Water (according to package directions)
1 tsp peppermint extract
1 cup crushed peppermint candies or candy canes

Nonstick spray

How to Make Peppermint Brownie Bites

Preheat your oven to 350℉. Grease 2 large mini muffin pans (a total of 48 holes) with nonstick cooking spray and set aside.

In a large bowl, mix the brownie mix according to the package directions (or your from scratch brownies) Stir in the peppermint extract and crushed peppermint candies.

Fill the greased mini muffin tin ¾ full. Bake for 18-21 minutes.

Allow the brownie bites to cool completely in the pan. Once cool, run a sharp knife around the edge of the brownie bite to release them from the pan and pop out.

If brownie bites are not completely cooled before removing from the pan the peppermint pieces are likely to stick to the muffin pan and cause the brownie bites to tear. So for best results, please let them cool completely!

Muffin pans can be lined with paper liners for easier release. Allow brownie bites to completely cool before removing the paper liner.

If you’d like, you can also sprinkle some extra crushed pieces of peppermint or sprinkles on top of the brownies.
