Double strollers are an essential must have for any parents of multiple little ones. The Joovy Scooter X2 stroller is a quality side by side stroller at a fraction of the cost of competitors. We own this stroller, and this Joovy Scooter X2 review is based on using it for the past 6 months.
When we first found out that we were expecting a second child and would be living the two under two life, I knew we needed to invest in a double stroller. They are a must have when expecting your second child or are parents of multiples. They make life so much easier, especially on those days you’re out and about and both of your kids are exhausted and just need a place to pass out (trust me, I speak from experience here).
When we first found out that we were expecting a second child and would be living the two under two life, I knew we needed to invest in a double stroller. But which one? There were so many options out there!
When you first start looking into double strollers, you need to first decide if you want a tandem stroller (where one child sits in front of the other) or a side-by-side double stroller. We actually decided to do both!
I loved a tandem stroller when my youngest was a newborn so that his carseat could click right into his section. We chose the Joovy Qool first for that reason, and you can read my full review of that here.
We soon realized that our boys actually preferred a side by side stroller so they could hold hands (which is the cutest thing in the world), so we started researching different stroller options. The first side-by-side stroller we chose was the Joovy Scooter X2 Double Stroller.
I’m excited to share with all of you my review of the Joovy Scooter X2 stroller. This is a stroller that we actually own and use, and my review is based off of using the Joovy Scooter X2 Stroller for the past 6 months. Let’s take a closer look!

Joovy Scooter X2 Review
The Joovy Scooter X2 is a full-size double stroller that allows two little ones to ride side by side. It provides the quality you’re looking for at a fraction of the cost of other similar side by side strollers.
Joovy Scooter X2 Weight and Size
The Joovy Scooter X2 weighs 32 pounds, which is actually pretty lightweight compared to some other side by side strollers.
One of the things I was most concerned about when it came to a side by side stroller was the size. I wanted to make sure any stroller we chose could easily fit through doorways.
While the Joovy Scooter X2 feels large, it’s actually only 30 inches wide, which means it fits through standard doorways! It’s not as slim as a tandem stroller (where kids sit in a line, one seat behind the other), it still allows you to fit through doorways easily without struggling.

Joovy Scooter X2 Seats
The Joovy Scooter X2 stroller has side by side seats that allow for each seat to be reclined separately. This is a great feature for children of different ages, as it means your kids don’t always have to be in the same position.
With a draw-string type reclining mechanism, you can adjust the seats to any reclining position you or your child prefer. While the seats are able to recline a lot, Joovy does not recommend that babies ride in the regular seat until they are about 3 months old or have solid head and neck control.
With a five-point safety harness, each seat also has a pretty high weight limit of 45 pounds each (for a total weight capacity of 90 pounds).
Joovy Scooter X2 Fold
The Joovy Scooter X2 features a one handed fold, which makes it a very quick and easy stroller to fold up. Despite its size, it also fits easily in most trunks (which was important for me as I drive a small sedan). The mesh pockets help it fold down small and easily.
Joovy Scooter X2 Car Seat Compatibility
The Joovy Scooter X2 is NOT compatible with any car seats. If you are looking to use this stroller with a newborn, you will need to wait until the are old enough the stroller the way it is.
We liked this stroller for after the infant car seats stage, but if that’s an important part of a double stroller for your family, I recommend checking out my Joovy Qool Review!
Joovy Scooter X2 Wheels
This double stroller has double front wheels and large rear wheels, making it great for off-roading! The back wheels make it easy to go up and down off curbs while out and about and also helps to ensure a smooth ride.
The parking brakes are also easy to use, as it’s just a bar you can step up or down on.
The Joovy Scooter X2 has a great oversized canopy with a peek-a-boo window so you can easily check on your kids while you walk, and provides plenty of shade for them as well.
This stroller also has a removable bumper bar. Your kids can rest their feet on this (which my toddler seems to love!). That is one of my favorite parts of this stroller, and one of the reasons I was excited to do a Joovy Scooter X2 review.
This great stroller also has adjustable leg rests so you can customize it for extra comfort for your little ones. It doesn’t come with child trays as the bumper bar takes that place. However, you can easily order an optional double tray to swap out for the bumper bar and a rain cover.
The Scooter X2 has a large storage basket under the seats. As any parent of multiple children can tell you, an extra big storage compartment is very appreciated! Between toys, a diaper bag and anything extra you’re carrying around, having a stroller with a large basket like the Joovy Scooter X2 offers is fantastic. The mesh cup holders also makes it easy to store things, and are great for water bottles.
It also includes 2 cupholders for parents and a zippered compartment to store your phone and keys while out and about, and is available in multiple different colors.
Is the Joovy Scooter X2 Worth It?
This Joovy Scooter X2 Review was written by a real mom who has used this stroller for the past 6 months (aka, me!). Here are my honest thoughts.
Pros: The Joovy Scooter X2 is narrow enough to fit through standard doorways, and lightweight enough for even smaller parents to maneuver and lift. The basket allows for plenty of storage, the seats can be reclined independently and at any angle you choose, the bigger wheels make for a pretty smooth ride and the huge canopy provides plenty of shade. It’s also an affordable side by side stroller.
Cons: The handlebar sits relatively low and isn’t adjustable, meaning if you are a tall parent this might not be the stroller for you. The location of the brake bar can also be hit with your feet easily while walking. It’s also not compatible with any car seats, so you need to wait to use this stroller until your infant has more neck control (recommended minimum age of 3 months). It’s also not the best on very bumpy or uneven surfaces (like gravel, grass or off-road in general).
Bottom Line: If you’re looking for a side by side design stroller on a budget, the Joovy Scooter X2 stroller provides the quality that you want at a very reasonable price. All in all, this is a good stroller for families with a simple, ease of use design that can fit in tight spaces easily with great storage and an awesome, extra-large canopy that can’t be beat.
