I love the excitement my kids feel when their elves come back. They literally race downstairs every day, so excited to find what their elves are up to in the morning.
I am firmly a lazy elf mom, and I have zero shame admitting that. I am a huge fan of easy ideas for the month of December! Our elves are pretty chill, and we are not a “naughty” elf or mischievous elf family.
I plain don’t have capacity to come up with beautiful, elaborate scenes every night, which is ok! The kids are just excited that the elves have moved. I love simple ideas, so last year I began make easy DIY printable elf props to help.

Fun Printable Elf Props

We use printable cards in so many creative ways. I’ve placed these printable signs with the family elf in the Christmas tree; propped outside an elf-sized sleeping bag (which is just a washcloth rolled up!); taped to a moveable elf hanging from the fan; and more!
Just add a little note to any scene to make it feel like a special elf’s visit has taken place. The inspirational photos included in this post include my kid’s own cute elf and creative ideas our family does.
