Create your own kids Halloween playlist with this list of Halloween songs for young kids. These songs were specifically chosen to be good for younger kids, with no very scary songs in the mix.
Keep in mind that the music videos *might* be too much for your child, so we recommend just adding the music tracks to your list for Halloween fun! I hope you and your family love these fun Halloween songs during your Halloween activities.
1. “This is Halloween” by Danny Elfman
Number one on our list because how could it not be? The theme from the Halloween movie ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ is such a fun one to list to on repeat all season, with it’s roll-call of creepy creatures and macabre fun. My kiddos love Jack Skellington and the citizens of Halloween town.
2. “Spooky Scary Skeletons” by Andrew Gold
This is THE spooky song for my little crew. It’s such a crowd-pleaser! Kids love to create their one spine-tingling dances inspired by the dancing skeletons.
3. “Monster Mash” by Bobby ‘Boris’ Pickett and the Crypt-Keepers
No list of Halloween songs for kids is complete without the 1962 hit. ‘Monster Mash’ is the perfect song to appeal to a wide variety of ages and guests, and is of course perfect for a classroom party or your own Halloween party.

While it might not have lyrics to sing along to, this classic Halloween song for kids can’t be missed.
6. “Ghostbusters” by Ray Parker Jr.
If there’s something strange in your neighborhood, who’re you gonna call? The Ghostbusters, of course! Just because your kids are too young to see the 1984 film doesn’t mean they won’t love this great song. Plus, as soon as it comes on the lyrics come rushing back for the grown ups, too.
‘I ain’t afraid of no ghost.’
7. “Skeletone” by Caspar Babypants
We first discovered Caspar Babypants when my oldest was a baby, and my husband loved the tie in to some of his own favorite songs growing up. This is just one of the dozens of catchy songs Chris Ballew (from the ’90s band Presidents of the United States of America) has created as this alter ego, all of which are great for listening with kids.
8. Dem Bones Skeleton Dance
Dem bones or them bones is a creepy-crawly jam that encourages your kiddos to move! It’s a fun Halloween song for kids to get your bunch grooving.
9. “Witches’ Brew” by Hap Palmer
This updated version of the classic includes a children’s chorus.
10. “The Purple People Eater” by Sheb Wooley
This mega popular goldie oldie is always fun when kids are involved! Is it a purple monster who eats people, or is it a monster who only eats people who are purple??
11. Down by the Spooky Bay
Come and join us Down By The Bay The Spooky Bay where the pumpkins grow! This catchy preschool pleaser is inspired by the old nursery school song, Down By the Bay.
12. “Monster Boogie” by The Laurie Berkner Band
Our family loves to boogie to anything The Laurie Berkner Band plays. This one is perfect for October.
13. “Halloween Sharks” by Pinkfong
This Halloween rendition of the toddler fan favorite is a slower, jazzier tempo and easy for even the youngest Halloween fans to party to. Baby Shark is always a hit with the tiny party animals!
14. “Jump in the Line (Shake Senora)” by Harry Belafonte
Not technically a Halloween tune, Jump in the Line made this list because of the automatic tie in so many of us make to Beetlejuice! It’s the song Lydia Deetz dances to at the end of the movie, and is on loop for us during the Halloween season.
15. “Under My Bed” by Recess Monkey
Monsters under the bed is frightening topic any time of the year for little ones, but it’s a great spooky tune, too. With fun beats set to a folk tune, it’s the perfect addition to a dance marathon set to Halloween songs for kids.
16. Five Little Pumpkins
This catchy tune is easy and cute!
17. “The Monsters Hop” by Bert Convy
Little monsters love this one. In this 60s throwback you’ll hear mention of Dracula, Frankenstein and other spooky monsters throughout this rockabilly tune.
18. “Costume Party” by The Pop Ups
Such a great track if you have a kiddo who can’t decide what they want to be on the spookiest day of the year.
19. “I Want Candy” by Aaron Carter
You can’t have a list of the best Halloween songs for kids without this perfect holiday addition. What’s Halloween without candy?
20. “Witch Doctor” by Alvin and the Chipmunks
Littles love this silly, catchy song begging for the help of help of a witch doctor. It’s a great sing-along song too.
21. “Haunting Days of Halloween” by Lucy Kalantari & The Jazz Cats
This jazz tune is spooky, fun and worth a listen even for the adults.
22. The Addams Family Theme Song
Whether you’re a fan of the original vintage TV show, the 90’s movies or the new cartoon films, The Addams Family theme song is a great one to add to your Halloween music for kids playlist.
23. “Time Warp” by Teddy Rocks
This classic Halloween tune from the “Rocky Horror Picture Show” gets a kid-friendly makeover in this Teddy Rock version of “Time Warp.” It’s just a jump to the left and then a step to the right, and so fun to dance around to.
24. “Ghost In My House” by Jumpin’ Jamie
I love how this rock tune sounds Weezer-esque, and your kids will love listening to the trouble the mischievous ghost gets into.
25. “Woolly Bully” by Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs
What does “Wooly Bully” even mean? Not sure anyone knows, but it’s a spirited addition to your Halloween kids song list.
26. “Thriller” by Michael Jackson
Kids of all ages can enjoy the Halloween spirit while bouncing to this old hit on the dance floor. It’s always a crowd pleaser.
Keep in mind that the Halloween creatures featured in the original Michael Jackson music video are too scary for most little kids, so be sure not to add this to a video playlist.
27. “Who Let the Ghosts Out” by The Hit Crew
This catchy kids song will get stuck in your head long after your Halloween party ends.
28. “I Put a Spell on You” by Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy
Salem’s cursed witches from the 1993 film “Hocus Pocus” make an impression on little goblins with this tune! An appearance from the Sanderson Sisters is a lively addition to our list of the best Halloween songs for kids. It’s quite possibly the best Disney villain songs of all time.

Your children will instantly recognize this song composed by John Williams! This is a great one to get into the Halloween mood.
