Why the Wonderfold is the Best Family Wagon for Toddlers
Our honest review of the Wonderfold W4 Wagon and why it’s the ultimate choice for parents with small children

As a mom of three and someone who’s tried just about every stroller, wagon, and hybrid combo out there, I can confidently say: the Wonderfold W4 Quad Wagon is hands-down the best toddler wagon for busy families.
Whether we’re navigating tight spaces at the grocery store, trekking across rough terrain on a nature trail, or hauling gear and kids through Disney World, this wagon has become an essential part of our everyday life. And believe me—I’ve pushed my fair share of double strollers, wagon strollers and even attempted a shopping cart-plus-baby-seat combo (never again!).
So if you’re looking for the best stroller wagons on the market, particularly something that meets the evolving needs of small children, older children, and large families you’ll want to read this honest and in-depth review of the Wonderfold.

What Makes Wonderfold the Best Choice for Families?
When shopping for a versatile stroller wagon, you’ll quickly notice a huge range in price ranges, features, and quality. But Wonderfold consistently stands out—not only because of its stylish design and sturdy build but because it checks so many boxes that matter to busy parents.
Here’s what won me over—and why I believe it’s the perfect choice for so many families.
1. Room for Everyone (and Everything)!
We own the Wonderfold W4, which seats up to four children comfortably. That alone makes it a game-changer for families with multiple small children or older children who still get tired after long walks. Compared to a double stroller, which maxes out at two kids and offers minimal cargo space, this kids’ wagon is in a league of its own.
Not only is there plenty of space for my kids, but there’s also ample storage space for diaper bags, snack trays, water bottles, toys, beach gear, and all those important items families tend to carry. We can even fit a small cooler under the bench with beverages for mom and dad, too!
2. Built for All Terrains
We’ve taken our Wonderfold W4 across grass, gravel, mulch, sand, and uneven sidewalks. Thanks to its larger wheels, rear wheels, and terrain wheels, it handles like a dream on various terrains—something that many regular strollers and collapsible wagons just can’t do.
Compare that with the Radio Flyer wagons or even the 3-in-1 EZ Fold Wagon, and the difference is obvious. The Wonderfold’s sturdy frame and suspension ensure a comfortable ride, no matter where the day takes you.
3. A Smooth Ride with Safety in Mind
Each seat in the W4 has a 5-point harness, and the interior is thoughtfully padded for comfort. It feels much more secure than a regular wagon, especially when traveling with multiple wiggly toddlers.
We even had a TSA officer comment on how well-designed and safe it looked when we used it during air travel (yes, it folds up—more on that next!).

4. Surprisingly Easy to Fold and Store
Despite its size, the Wonderfold W4 features an easy one-handed fold that makes packing it into the trunk (or storing it in smaller spaces) a breeze. The compact fold was one of the top priorities for us because we needed something that could travel easily and not take up our entire garage.
It’s bulkier than a single stroller, of course, but far more functional for our family’s needs—especially on family outings or road trips.
5. Customizable for Different Needs
Wonderfold makes several models beyond the W4, including the W2 (great for two kids) and luxe options with pull handles, reclining seats, and even infant car seat adapters. This is key for families with a second child or medical conditions that require adaptability.
Other parents I know who use the Evenflo Pivot Xplore or the Veer Cruiser say they like those options too, but many eventually upgrade to a Wonderfold for the additional room, features, and overall ease of use.
6. Designed with Parents in Mind
Some of my favorite features of the Wonderfold include:
- Snack tray for on-the-go meals
- Cup holders that don’t spill during bumps
- Large storage basket underneath
- Easy-to-clean fabric and seats
- Adjustable canopy for sun protection
- Push wagon and pull modes, depending on terrain
The brand truly thought about what busy parents need on those long everyday adventures.

The Real-Life Test: Parks and Festivals
Here are just a few examples of how our Wonderfold has become a staple in our life:
At the park: We use it to haul kids and gear like balls, snacks, and extra shoes. It’s become a must have, because it can carry so much and is much easier to push and pull than our old utility cart.
At Festivals: This is the big one! It’s a lifesaver for long days, sun protection, naps on the go and keeping the kids happy and contained. It’s big enough where all of our kids can be inside at the same time but still not be on top of each other.
We’ve taken it to multiple street festivals (paved roads) as well as to the big Atlanta Renaissance Festival (unpaved). While obviously we expected it to work great on paved roads, we were pleasantly surprised with how great it did on the hills and paths outside, too!
Downsides? Just a Few Minor Things
To keep this review fair, here are a few trade-offs to consider:
- Heavier than a regular stroller – You’ll notice the weight when lifting it in and out of the car, but it rolls smoothly once on the ground. The quad wagon is also heavier than the regular double wagon.
- Bulkier than a single stroller – If you’re tight on storage space at home, measure first.
- Pricey – Wonderfold wagons are an investment, but you’re paying for quality, safety, and convenience that truly grow with your family. This is of the only kids gear items I really regret not getting sooner, and it was the price that held me back at the time.
For us, the pros far outweigh these cons. I highly recommend measuring your trunk BEFORE buying. Double check your measurements against the specific Wonderfold wagon you’re interested in, as they are each different sizes.

Who Should Get a Wonderfold Wagon?
The Wonderfold is ideal for:
- Parents of one or more kids. If you have two or more kids, I can’t say enough great things about the quad wagon!
- Families with a wide age range of children under 6. The Wonderfold is a game changer, because you know those bigger kids are going to get worn out at events too.
- Anyone who goes on regular outdoor adventures or festivals with their children.
- Parents who need room for both kids and gear
- Those with a child who tires easily or has mobility needs
If you’re deciding between a traditional stroller, double stroller, or a wagon hybrid, the Wonderfold offers a versatile stroller wagon solution that meets all those needs—and then some.
Final Thoughts: Is the Wonderfold Worth It?
Absolutely. The Wonderfold W4 has replaced our regular stroller, collapsible wagon and shopping cart on so many occasions. It’s comfortable for the kids, easy for me to maneuver and built to last.
We’ve tested and owned lots of different types of wagons and strollers over the years, and I feel embarrassed that it took until my 6th year of motherhood to realize that a toddler wagon like this could actually have replaced so many of them WAAAAY earlier.
If your top priority is a comfortable ride that works for a growing family, accommodates different needs, handles various terrains, and offers plenty of space for both kids and essentials, this is truly the best toddler wagon on the market today.
